Support Programs

Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School established the Hand In Hand Options Program for high school students with intellectual disabilities in 2004. In line with Catholic teaching, we believe the dignity of the individual and the call to human relationships are a matter of justice and are at the center of the educational experience.

The program's goal is to make education in a Catholic school community available to students who would not be able to pursue a college preparatory program without intensive special education support.

Students in the Hand In Hand Options Program benefit from continuing their education in a Catholic community, which provides them with the resources, culture, and environment to grow intellectually, spiritually, and morally. Each student’s curriculum is driven by their individualized goals, which provide for a mixture of instruction in general education classes, small groups, and one-on-one. Upon finishing the four-year program, students enrolled in the Hand In Hand Options Program receive a certificate of completion. Students often choose to participate in vocational training or post-secondary education programs on college campuses after graduation.

The Knights Success Program (KSP) was developed to support students with diagnosed learning disabilities who have average to above-average intelligence. 

KSP strives to help students with learning disabilities as they progress through JPII's college preparatory curriculum. Students with up-to-date psycho-educational testing, which results in a diagnosed learning disability, are eligible for classroom accommodations. 

We believe that each student can learn when provided with an encouraging environment, classroom accommodations, and appropriate support. With these tools and trained professionals, every student has the opportunity to experience success in our academic program.
