Students’ senses ignite through the creation of art, providing a unique and joyful connection to God, our Creator. Whether their passion is in ceramics, computer graphics, drawing, painting, photography, or digital photography, students are sure to be challenged and fulfilled.
"Second Tuesday" Visual Art Opportunity for all Students
The Fine Arts Booster (FAB) is pleased to announce a unique opportunity for all JPII students to dive deeper into Visual Arts in partnership with Monthaven Arts. The "Second Tuesday" program is a two-hour after-school enrichment opportunity held on the second Tuesday of January, February, March, and April, starting at 3:30 p.m. in room A105. Students will be taught by an artist from Monthaven Arts using a specific medium and style. Contact Chris Szalaj fab@jp2prep.org with any questions.
The first two topics and dates are noted below. This activity is free, but RSVP is required, and space is limited to 20 students. You can sign up to participate using the links to Google Forms below for the January and February events.
Drawing from Life
Tuesday, January 14th at 3:30 p.m.
Elevate your artistic abilities in our Drawing from Life class, designed to enhance your skills in observing and depicting the world around you. This class emphasizes foundational techniques in proportion, perspective, and shading, using real-world settings as subjects. Students will learn about light and texture while refining their personal artistic style.
Drawing and Painting from Life
Tuesday, February 11th at 3:30 p.m.
Building on the foundational skills developed in the Drawing from Life class, this course introduces students to the dynamic world of painting from observation. Teens will refine their understanding of proportion, perspective, and composition while exploring how color, brushwork, and texture can bring their subjects to life. Students will transition from sketching to painting, learning how to mix colors, create depth, and capture light with paint.
